Daily Prayer For December 18, 2020
on Fri Dec 18, 2020 8:28 pm
Hello Friends! Here is the prayer for today…
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for waking us and allowing us to see another day. As we gather together today, we lift to you all who are struggling this week. As Christmas approaches, so many are missing loved ones. Being isolated has caused many to be alone with their grief. There are fewer ways to distract themselves, and their thoughts are deafening in the silence of their homes.
We ask for your comfort to envelop each aching heart and for your peace to cover them like a blanket on a cold night. May they find you to be a closer companion than they have ever known you to be. During these troubled times, may we come to know you in ways we’ve never known before and draw closer to you than we knew was possible. When trials and losses strip away all that is known and comfortable, we realize more than ever what is important and what truly matters in life. We become more aware that this world is not our home. We have moments of pleasure and happiness, but what this life offers is fleeting compared to eternity.
We are grateful that we can grieve with hope. We are thankful there is coming a day when we will never have to say goodbye to anyone we love again…that there is coming a time when we won’t have to deal with loneliness, sadness, illness, or any of the things that cause us pain. You tell us to encourage each other…to remind ourselves and others of all that Jesus taught us. During these challenging times, please help us to feed our minds with your truth.
Thank you for being a good Father who is attentive to us and anticipates our needs. It’s hard to imagine how people get through this life without you. We are so grateful that we don’t have to face the hard things of this life alone. We are thankful for your strength that gets us through things that seem impossible to survive. We are grateful that more rests on your shoulders than our own. We thank you for your promises that you are near to the brokenhearted, and you will heal our wounds. We trust that you will bring beauty from ashes and turn our mourning into dancing. Help us to center our thoughts on you this week and on the incredible gift of our Savior. It’s in His name that we ask these things. Amen
May you have a blessed day and weekend, friends!
