Daily Prayer For November 24, 2020
on Tue Nov 24, 2020 7:07 pm
Hello, Friends! I felt led to repost this prayer today…
Dear Lord,
You are all too aware that we live in a world that is full of brokenness. Broken lives, broken marriages, broken families, broken relationships, broken bodies, broken spirits, broken hearts, broken trust, broken plans, and broken dreams. All of this brokenness causes incredible pain. You know. You know, because you felt the weight of all of it on the cross. Often people look up to the heavens and cry out in despair, “Don’t you know what I’m going through? Don’t you care? Why don’t you do something?”
When we take time to look away from our pain to look to the cross, we see that you did do something. Every tear we shed is reflected in every drop of blood that you shed. Each of our anguished cries is echoed in your calls to your Father, “Why have you forsaken me.” Every blow we have ever been dealt in life, you were matched blow for blow physically, emotionally, and mentally. You understand our feelings of pain, grief, loss, and anxiety because you experienced those things yourself. You know what it is to be forsaken, abandoned, and utterly alone in your suffering. You were rejected, falsely accused, and persecuted. You know all too well the pain of living in this fallen world…it made you weep when you were here, and it makes you weep still. You grieve with us, and you wipe our tears. You pray for us, advocate for us, watch over us, and whisper to us that you are near, we are not forgotten or alone…and never will be. Your scars remind you daily of all you’ve been through and all you’ve done for us. You don’t need a reminder of what we are going through. We are the ones that sometimes need the reminder that you cared so much about us, that you gave your life to save us and to redeem all the brokenness of this life.
Help us remember that there is something far greater that is coming after our tears, pain, and losses. This is the time of weeping before eternal dancing. The time of illness before permanent healing. The time of sowing tears of sorrow before reaping a harvest of good fruit. Beauty will rise from the ashes. We will trade a spirit of despair for a garment of praise. You will restore all the enemy has stolen. You promise, and your Word never fails.
Help us remember that this life’s struggles can’t begin to compare to the joy that is coming. These afflictions and trials may not seem momentary, but they are when compared with eternity. May your promises be a soothing balm for us on the hard days. We thank you for all you do, all you are, and all that is to come. In the name above all names, we pray. Amen
May you be comforted and filled with His peace, friends!
