The World Trade Center cross, also known as the Ground Zero cross, is a group of steel beams found among the debris of the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan, New York City, following the September 11 attacks in 2001.

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

Today we once again remember the tragic events in 2001. That day changed our whole world in so many ways. We saw the worst in humanity and the best all at once. We have images that are forever etched in our minds that remind us of the shock, horror, pain, loss, and incredible acts of selflessness, kindness, sacrifice, and unconditional love that surrounded that day.

We pray for all who lost loved ones because of the events on 9/11/2001. May they find a measure of comfort knowing that the world has not forgotten. This happened on U.S. soil, but there were many from other countries who also lost their lives that day. We pray for comfort for families and people everywhere who are feeling a sense of sadness, loss, and grief today. We pray for all who have lost loved ones, their homes, and their way of life due to terrorism, persecution, and violence.

We ask for your healing hand to be on all whose health has been affected because they were responders to this tragedy. So many suffer the physical effects of all the chemicals, dust, and pollutants they were subjected to. So many have PTSD and nightmares from all they saw. They truly gave sacrificially of themselves, and we lift them to you with gratitude in our hearts. We ask that you would bless them and their families for their sacrifices, and we ask you to provide for their every need. We pray that all the brave people who wear a uniform will be forever recognized as the heroes that they are. May our world never forget their bravery, courage, and selflessness and how they rush towards danger to protect and serve as others run away.

The events of 9-11 remind us that we live in a fallen world that is full of evil and pain. This year has shown us that our world needs you more than ever. We pray that our nation and the world would once again have that sense of unity that we all felt in the days and weeks after 9-11. May we once again overcome evil with good and love our neighbors as ourselves. We pray for your Spirit to move mightily in our world. We ask that we would once again see your beauty, hope, and love rise from the ashes from the terrible things the world has experienced this year.

We are grateful for the signs you give us to remind us of your nearness and faithfulness. This 9-11 cross reminds us that because of Jesus, there is redemption, salvation, and hope….that evil and death do not have the last word…You do. We are thankful that there is coming a day where there will be no more evil, sin, tears, pain, suffering, loss, or death. We thank you for the promise of all that is to come for those who believe. We thank you for our Savior Jesus, in whose mighty name we pray. Amen

May you feel His comfort and nearness today.

~Hope For The Brokenhearted
