Daily Prayer For May 16, 2020
on Sat May 16, 2020 8:14 pm
Hello! Here is the prayer for today…
Dear Lord,
There is a healthy fear that keeps us safe, but chronic or irrational fear is one of the weapons the enemy uses against us. The commandments, “Be not afraid,” “Do not fear,” and phrases with similar verbiage are some of the most often repeated instructions to us in the Bible. Nothing in your Word is written by accident. If you have repeated commandments, it’s especially crucial for us.
A lot is going on to cause us to be worried and afraid. There are entities, who stir up fear, anxiety, and strife daily. Fear has often been used to intimidate, manipulate, control, divide, and conqueror others. You created us, so when we encounter dangerous situations, our bodies go into fight/flight mode. Chemical and physical reactions in our body cause us to have a diminished capacity to think and reason well so we can run away from danger. We can see why the enemy uses fear, anxiety, and worry, so frequently against us as he tries to keep us in a constant heightened state of mind so we won’t think clearly.
Please help us to keep our eyes on you, and not the storms around us. Help us to hear your voice above all others. Help us to remember the lessons we learned from Peter walking on water, Paul being chained in prison, and all of the other helpful testimonies you included in your Word to bring us hope, comfort, and help in times of adversity. Please grant us your wisdom, knowledge, and discernment. Help us to trust you more. Help us to take our thoughts captive and remember there is an army of heavenly angels fighting in a realm we cannot see. If our eyes were to be opened to what is happening around us, we surely would not be afraid of anything we face here. If we could physically see Jesus walking beside us, we would undoubtedly be less worried, anxious, and fearful…yet, though our eyes can’t physically see, our Emmanuel is with us. He has promised to never leave or forsake us. Help us to remember these truths. Help us to use the Bible as the sword that it is meant to be to fight back against all that would come against us and try to steal our peace.
You tell us no weapon formed against will prosper. You ask us to be strong, courageous, and anxious for nothing. You tell us to meditate on your Word night and day and to call to mind your many miracles and good works. Please help us to do these things, Lord. What we can’t do on our own, we can do with your help. Help us to remember that we don’t need to fear the future because you are already there. Help us to find comfort and rest in your promises today. We thank you in advance for all you will do to help us overcome and be victorious in this area of or lives. In the mighty name of Jesus, we ask these things. Amen
May you have a peace-filled weekend, friends!
