Daily Prayer For February 6, 2020 Empty Daily Prayer For February 6, 2020

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

Sometimes it’s hard to live with the mistakes of our past…the missed opportunities…the time we’ve wasted…the words uttered in anger…the consequences as a result of poor choices we’ve made…the people and things that we neglected or didn’t appreciate when we had the chance…all the times we have failed you. There is no one alive who doesn’t have regrets or things they wish they could go back and change or do differently…

We think of Peter denying you. The Apostles who slept, instead of keeping guard while you prayed. Paul, who persecuted Christians before He came to know you. King David who had a man killed to cover his sin. Surely all of these men who loved you felt incredible regret and anguish over their actions. They must have felt such remorse about how they hurt you and let you down…the Bible is full of stories and testimonies of people who went on to be used mightily by you after great failures.

Please help us learn from their mistakes and examples. They didn’t let their failures, mistakes or sins cripple them and keep them stuck in the past. They repented and knew you forgave them. Though they couldn’t change the past or get back the missed opportunities to do the right thing, they could make a choice to keep the lessons learned and keep pressing forward. Shame is a tool of the enemy. He constantly accuses us and reminds us of our failings to render us ineffective and useless and to keep us from being all that we can be. Help us to embrace your grace and your forgiveness and live in the freedom that Jesus paid such a high price for. Help us to remember that at the name of Jesus, our accuser must flee. May we listen to your voice and not his lies. May what you say about us be what defines us and not what he says about us.

Help us to keep doing the next, right thing that is in front of us and then just do the next thing, and then the next thing…one step at a time, one day at a time. With your help, we become better and do better as we grow in you. We thank you for your compassion and understanding. Thank you for your unconditional love that encourages us to keep holding on and pressing in…to keep looking forward instead of looking back…to keep looking up to you, instead of looking within…to keep pressing on to the high calling of Jesus. Help us to walk in your freedom, forgiveness, knowledge, and grace. We thank you and praise you and ask these things in the name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen

May you keep running the race before you, friends!
