Daily Prayer For October 9, 2019 Empty Daily Prayer For October 9, 2019

on Wed Oct 09, 2019 8:45 pm
Hi, Friends! I’m feeling led to re-post this prayer today…

Dear Lord,

Things don’t always go the way we plan, and we find ourselves in places that we never thought we would be. Many people who have always been healthy, now find themselves dealing with illness or injuries. Many are dealing with loved ones who have always been active and independent, but now are in failing health…many are facing life alone after divorce or the loss of loved ones…others who thought their lives were stable and that they had a measure of security, now find their lives turned upside down by natural disasters, tragedies, lost jobs, or financial struggles. We may not be ready for these things, but you always are. Your Word says you see our lives from beginning to end before we even live one day. You have already figured out a plan and a purpose for all things, and you are with us to help us in all we face.

You have given us so many stories in Scripture that let us know that we are not alone in our feelings or struggles. We can read of all who had feelings of despair. We learned about the pain of those who loved you and how they dealt with grief, loss, and depression. We read about the questions that have been shouted up to you…”Why?”…”Where are you?”…”How long must I wait?”…”How long must I suffer?”…but through it all, we see people like King David, who reached the lowest of lows and yet he also reached the highest of highs. He saw that you are mighty in every way and full of love and compassion. He found that your promises are true. His faith was tested, and He found you were faithful and worthy to be praised. David learned for himself that you give a crown of beauty for ashes, and you turn our mourning to joy. We read how you did the same for Job and for your disciples and for so many others, and what you did for them, you do for us. You are faithful, and your word stands the test of time and never changes.

You gave us your Word to provide us with hope, encouragement, and comfort. May we find your power and fortitude to pick ourselves up and to stand with your strength. We are told there is a time to weep and a time to dance, and we pray that you would fill our hearts to overflowing with your joy, so that even if our circumstances don’t change, we might dance before you, with a heart of praise. Lord, please renew a right spirit within us. Help us to remember the many works of your hands. May your Holy Spirit fall afresh on us this day. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

May His grace, peace, love, and joy fill you to overflowing!
