Daily Prayer For April 8, 2019 Empty Daily Prayer For April 8, 2019

Hello, Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

Today we want to give to you all of our regrets…we want to give you all of our failures and the things that cause us to despair. Sometimes it’s hard to live with the mistakes of our past…the missed opportunities…the time we’ve wasted…the words uttered in anger…the poor choices we’ve made…the people and things that we didn’t appreciate when we had the chance…the times we have failed you…there is no one alive who doesn’t have regrets or things they wish they could change or do differently…

We think of Peter denying you and the Apostles who slept, instead of keeping guard while you prayed…Paul who persecuted Christians…surely they were filled with incredible regret and anguish over their actions and how they hurt you and let you down… help us to learn from their examples. They realized their mistakes and failures. They realized that they couldn’t go back and change what they had done, but they did not let their mistakes cripple them or keep them stuck. They knew you forgave them. They found forgiveness and redemption and though they couldn’t change the past or get back the missed opportunities to do the right thing, they could make the choice to  keep going  and keep doing the next thing you called them to. They had to let their shame and regret go, but they held onto the lessons learned and they moved forward with your strength and a resolve to keep doing better with your help… to keep letting Christ lead and guide them and help them to become the best they could be.

Help us to keep doing the next right thing that is in front of us…sometimes we become overwhelmed by our past or all that is in front of us…at times it feels like we don’t know what to do or where to start… but all we need to do is put one foot in front of the other and take the first step and then just do the next thing and then the next thing…one step at a time, one day at a time…

We thank you for your compassion and understanding. Thank you for your unconditional love that encourages us to keep holding on and pressing in…to keep moving forward instead of giving up…to keep looking up instead of looking within…Lord, please bring healing and restoration and set us free from the things that hold us back. We thank you and praise you and ask these things in the name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen
