Daily Prayer For December 23, 2018

on Mon Dec 24, 2018 6:06 pm
Hello Friends! Here is the prayer for today…

Dear Lord,

Sometimes we find ourselves in such hard places all we can do is to ask for your mercy…at times we deal with such difficult people, and no matter how hard we try to do the right things and say the right things, our actions and words are taken wrong…we can’t even begin to try to work things out because the other person is unwilling to talk, listen or try to see another perspective besides their skewed view of things…the unresolved issues can cause heartache, pain and tension that divide and tear families apart.

All of these hurtful things are often magnified during the holidays when there is this expectation that family and friends should be together with a feeling of warmth, love and caring…the old song “there’s no place like home for the holidays,”just doesn’t ring true for so many…their homes are battlefields, places of walking on eggshells, places of loneliness, isolation or estrangement…places where we just don’t know what to do to make things better and we wonder how things ever got to this place to begin with.

Lord, we lift up everyone who is dealing with difficult relationships…we pray for all who are dealing with pain, loss, addictions, abuse and issues that are hidden behind closed doors…we pray for all who are sad because their holidays are not spent with loved ones, for all who have prayed that this year might be the year things will improve and yet they have been disappointed once again…for all who just don’t know what else to do…what else to pray…where else to turn…we just cry out for mercy…we pray to touch the hem of your garment…we long to find your comfort, mercy, grace and compassion for the sense of loss over situations that are not of our choosing and that are beyond our control.

Help us to find places of acceptance and peace in the midst of stressful and hurtful situations…help us not to give into despair and hopelessness…help us to trust and pray that you can do what we cannot…we give you the longings of our hearts…we give you our dashed dreams and unimaginable realities and we ask you to carry these things that weigh so heavy on our hearts and minds. Fill the broken places with more of yourself…please grant us your strength to carry on…help us to focus on the reason we celebrate Christmas and all of our blessings, instead of our losses and pain.

You came to bind our wounds and to set us free. Help us to remember who the real enemy is behind our earthly battles and help us to rise up with hope and courage and with trust that you are in control and that things aren’t over until you say they are over. Help us to pray without ceasing and look to you in our waiting. We ask these things in Jesus’ name. Amen

Blessings be upon you friends.
